Where Hath Chivalry Gone?
A Poem
Where Hath Chivalry Gone? Far away from us its been. Far away from our poor hearts Yet far closer then it seems. Where hath Chivalry Gone? That men now prey upon their others, That women let alone, forgotten, And foreing made, who where once brother. Where hath Chivalry Gone? That men not fight their own battles, That abandon their calls to virtue, And whomever is good, to evil they rattle. Where hath Chivalry Gone? That no one remembers their fathers, That once banners, now turn to tramps; A proud held history tied by slim tathers. Where hath Chivalry Gone? That the young bear no chest, Yet still yearn for something more, For a Troy, For a Quest... Where Hath Chivalry Gone? Gone to Arthur; To the charge Louis led. Gone far, to Orlando, at his behast. Gone far, where Charlemagne beds. Gone close, where all great stood. Gone with them, that always understood. Where Hath Chivalry Gone? To the Poet's Tongue, for him to praise; To the Dreamer's Mind, for him to love; To the Hero's Heart, for him to fight; To the Child's Soul, for he has seen: That Old Chivalry was never gone... For with us, it always been.
